Panta Furniture

Just few days ago I introduce you to Budji furniture and now I would like to introduce you to Panta Furniture which is quite similar to Budji's furniture, that I came across this brand when I was in Bangkok back in October 2006, when I went to Bangkok with my mom to visit my brother and wife.

That was my first time to Bangkok and my brother and wife showed us around and went to this big shopping mall call Siam Paragon. I'm sure those of you who went to Bangkok knows what they sell in Siam Paragon. All the expensive brands from Cartier to Lamborghini, so can you imagine what they still here. So happen when I was there Panta was displaying their furniture at one of the open space. This is how i discover this brand as I like the furniture that made from natural material but in a modern authentic furniture with an identity.

Just a brief introduction of Panta.
The name PANTA is derived from Sahasanetra, which means a thousand pair of eyes reflection all the good deeds carried out. The store started retailing in Siam Discovery Centre, Bangkok in June 2002 and the second store in Siam Paragon, Bangkok in December 2005.

The slogan of the PANTA business is originally design contemporary lifestyle, and what the designers seek to achieve is an integration of east and west, of classic forms and innovation; of the richness of time honoured traditions and contemporary lifestyle. The store also acts as a forum where other designers who share a similar vision can show their work.

Besides the unique furniture they produce, I fell in love with the home accessories they produce as well. From pillow case to vase and everything in between. All of the furniture materials are almost 100% natural. I seriously can't wait to have a place of my own to decorate them with all these lovely furniture that I like so much.

Hunter and Prey

In this concrete jungle that we are living, who is the prey and who is the hunter we have yet to know. We are no difference with those animals living in the jungle too. Be it in the working environment or among friends, there is definitely some who wants to be the supreme one in the group and of course there are some who tries to play us out.

I believe we are either hunter or prey, we are just playing the game and this hunter and prey games last till the very end till our last breath. Everyone is trying to out smart one another with their wit. Along this game, we might win and we might loose, the battle goes on and on. At the end either one just withdrawn from this hunter and prey game.

At time I just wish I am not caught in between this hunter and prey game, but it it inevitable. I just have to play along this battle of the wit hunter and prey game. At the end of the day who is the hunter and who is the prey we only know?

Puppet

Are we being a puppet and let others pulling the strings in our life? I do came across a few friends that live like a puppet live. Which makes me felt so heartache to see them living a puppet live. There are times I feel like cutting the ropes that is controlling them but who am I to play God here.

I'm sure there are a lot of reasons behind each puppet. And yet sometimes I find that, they don't even know how to defend themselves and end up being a puppet and let others pull the strings and instruct them to do things that they don't like.

Sometimes, slowly without realizing it, that we have become ones puppet. Sometimes I see that my friends losing his own identity and him/herself just breaks my heart. Seeing them in such a situation is even worst then a bird being cage. At least the bird still can do whatever he/she likes just that in a confined place. But being a puppet, you have all the space in the world but it is always being controlled by others.

I do wish someday I have the courage to go up against the puppet master and cut my friends loose from being controlled by the puppet master. And of course the best is the puppet him/herself knows how to cut away and learn to be on his/her own. This is my only wish for all the puppets out there.

Budji

Ever heard of Budji? I assume not much people heard about and know anything about it. It is actually a authentic furniture brand by Antonio "Budji" Layug. That is how the brand name came about. Budji introduces us to the world of modern asean living - a mixture of rich heritage and traditional craftsmanship as well as contemporary needs of sensibilities.

Antonio "Budji" Layug, an international designer of furniture and interiors, was born in 1950. The third of eight children in a Falipino furniture manufacturing family, Budji's interest in design developed early. He studied at the New York School of Interior Design, and later, returned to the Philippines to study architecture at the St. Thomas University in Manila. Budji then spent seven years traveling the world, expanding his understanding of foreign culture, art and design. Upon his return to the PHilippines, Budji began to explore his native country's landscape as vigorously as he had explored the European and American continents.

One day on a beach in the mid-seventies, while watching two men build a traditional bamboo outrigger canoe, the seeds for a new venture were sown.
Fascinated by their skill and their use of native materilas, Budji began to design furniture that incoporperated traditional techiniques and indigenous organic materials such as pandan, bamboo and Philippine hardwoods to create sleek, elegant and throughtly post-colonial furniture.

I guess locally Budji may not be a household name but over the some other countries Budji as a Furniture designer has made a name for himself. I wonder whether Malaysian can't afford his furniture or hardly heard of it before. When I knew about this brand few years and and until now, not much people know about this brand and probably the location of the shop is not that out standing.

contemporary looking yet traditional way of doing it, that is Budji

Dining in Bora Bora, Bali

Nope, it's just a Restaurant at Kg. Sg. Penchala, Jalan Damansara. It was great fun and experience dining in such a beautiful serene place called Bora Asmara. It was actually discover by on of my students from the internet. After surveying the place, they made a plan to go there for dinner and invited me.

Seriously when I enter the restaurant, I really felt like I'm back to Bali again. It seems like going there in the evening before the sunset was the best time. And true enough it was just the right time to be there. Finally we were at the table that they booked earlier and as the menu reaches me, I browse through the menu and found the prices are just fair enough for such a beautiful place, between RM15ish to about RM40ish depend on the food you order.

The service were good and the food are good. As we were dining half way through a man approaches to ask us to take our time to eat our food as they will be musical performance around 9pm. We were there around 6pm and by the time we finished our food about 7:30pm and we really can't wait till 9pm for the performance. The food they serve are from Balinese to Western to even Fusion Food, I guess there not that much of Balinese food as main dish because the Balinese delicacy would be "Babi (pork) Guling" and "Itek (duck) Bebek" (hope I got the spelling right) are not being served here and this Restaurant serve only Halal food and own by this Muslim.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Merry Christmas to everyone out there and finally it's here but unfortunately I could not finish my Christmas gifts in time. I guess it is norm for all artist to be perfectionist and I'm one of them too. I rather do it slow but nicely then just a lousy Christmas gift.

This year has been a really great year for me, lots of ups and downs but I guess the joy of knowing so many friends in this realm of blogger, brings me to another level in my life. Just a short story for this Christmas.

Just this afternoon I went to Sg. Wang to get something from my buddy and I ask one of my student to come along just to accompany me. On the way back, something really terrible happened. A motorcycle was trying to over take a lorry and I don't really know what happen but somehow the motorcycle bang the back of the lorry and lost control and fell right in front of my car! I immediately hit the brake and my car skidded and stop and the motorcyclist was out of my view right in front of my car on the road. I've no idea whether he's dead or alive as he has totally out of my view.

Suddenly I saw his hand and his head climbing up and I totally felt relieve that he is all right. I was so afraid that I might just ran him over. My student quickly went out and help him up and I follow right after that to make sure he is alright. I just caused a massive jam at Federal Highway just right before the junction that turn to Old Klang Road. I thank God that guy is alright, even thought there are some dent on my car.

I would like to thank Emila from Emila Illustrated Blog for this lovely Christmas gift. A bag sew by her and painted by her too, the best part was she knows I love that baby blue color. I was nicely wrap in that blue box with a Christmas card and snow man tag too. Is was presented to me on the day I have met her on Magic Mirror Exhibition and I've waited to this day to open it as my family don't celebrate Christmas and this is just a wonder gift. By the way, thank you Yoon See too for her mystery gift.

~ Merry Christmas ~

Rainy Days

I have been busy lately with students results as I need to submit them soon. Besides that I'm also getting worried for the next two months. It seems like the college don't have any subject for me to teach during this short semester, which is about two months.

I have once read a book called "Financial Freedom" by a group of people from Public Mutual Funds and after reading it, one point that struck me hard was, save as much as nine (9) months of your salary for rainy days. When I saw that point, my jaw dropped to the floor, when will I be able to save that much? The world is full of temptations and have some too many commitments.

If I knew this earlier, I would not have bought the laptop and that might just help me to survived for that two months. Now I am thinking what should I do in that two months, what can I do too? My rainy days just started and now I have not stopped thinking what to do next, planning, planning and planning. I just can't stopped thinking about it, simply because for survival sick.

Hopefully the clear and sunny day will appear very soon to light up my life.

Finally It Has Arrived

It was a busy and packed Saturday for me. Work up as early as 7 am to get really to meet one of my students for some discussion on his project that he's working on. Right after that, I have to meet another batch of students to go PC Fair in KL Convention Center. That was my first time to PC Fair as I find it too pack and I hate the sardine pack feeling. But this time I have no choice because I have planned for months to get myself a laptop. So I guess that would be the best place.

Yes!!! It is finally here right in my room on my working table. It is a Dell Studio 15 series and I'm already in love with it. One thing I've learned from PC fair, buy what you think you already set your eyes on it, once buy, no regrets. In PC Fair you totally can't go back as the people are so packed that you can barely go against the traffic flow.

This cool laptop casing was given to me by Jimmy Tan, a cool illustrator. He actually won't this online competition and rewards him with reward points so that he can shop online at the website he won. And he ask me select one that I like from the website and I finally made this choice. And it went pretty well with my laptop, both in gray color.

After spending hours in PC Fair, I have to rush back for my next appointment, my friend's (Szegy) wedding dinner at Mid Valley.

Congratulation!!!
to
Szegy and Anne
great to see that you finally tie the knot and really happy for you

It was so rush that I don't even really have time to spend with my new toy. But it was really a great day to remember my friend's wedding day and my first laptop day :)

One Utama vs Mid Valley

One Utama
Little Drummer Boy was the theme for One Utama last year. Though this Little Drummer Boy is the Biggest Drummer Boy I've seen so far. All around it are cute Little Drummer Boy and of course stalls that sells items and gift for Christmas. I was beautifully layout with the piano keyboard as part of the design that makes the Little Drummer Boy goes up and down.

This year, One Utama is doing for Alice In Wonderland There for Christmas, or should I put it as Alice In Winter White Wonderland? There is so many characters in Alice In Wonderland and they only use the Soilder Cards as the theme.

As you can see here, they are trying to create a maze garden here and it actually took up a lot of space from putting more stalls to cheer up this place.

Very simple lit Christmas Tree, white and beautiful and accompanied by the white spade behind to link it back to the theme.

This is an idea, which I never thought of. Playing cards to decorate the Christmas tree and actually it looks good. That just give me an idea, probably next time I can use Mahjong to decorate the Christmas tree and I'm sure parents would love it.

Close up on the Christmas tree with playing cards and it looks cool. Since playing cards can be decorations for Christmas tree, so many ideas are running through my head. Getting a better and clearer picture in decorating a Chrismas tree with theme. I'll definitely doing it when I own a place of my own.

Mid Valley
This was Mid Valley 2007 Christmas decorations, the setting was like autumn by the lake with a lot of tall long grass all around the stage. Very beautifully lit cocoon like lantern.

This year Mid Valley is doing a circus theme for Christmas, and surprisingly they did it quite well. Just never thought Christmas and Circus goes hand in hand. Some how Mid Valley manage to pull if off nicely. Not too much and yet it emits the Christmas mood, playful and joyful.

If you were to look closely, there are animals all around the stage from bear, to horse, lions, so on and so forth.
I like this extremely call Christmas tree fill with candy like ornaments. Not too much just nice for the occasion.

Colourful tent and Merry-Go-Round stall all around the ground floor. Makes the whole theme more interesting and whole. Just like walking into a Circus theme park. All the stalls were selling gifts for Christmas.

While walking I came across this beautifully decorated cart with a puppet inside. It is too bad that there isn't any real puppet show, if not I'm sure it is going to be very interesting.

So, what do you think? Who has the best Christmas decoration this year? I personally would go for Mid Valley. As I find they put a lot more effort in making it happen. Wonder what would your choice be?

Besides God's love for us, the next greatest love it would be a mother's love. It just bring tears to my eyes to know how unconditionally a mother's love for her child.
